The President’s Palace in Valletta was the venue for the brief ceremony during which three magistrates were were formally handed their appointment as Judges of the Superior Courts. Three lawyers also took their oath of office and oath of allegiance to become Magistrates of the Inferior Courts. The oaths were administered by the Attorney General, Dr Peter Grech, in the presence of the President of Malta, of the Prime Minister and of Chief Justice Joseph Azzopardi.
The new members of the Bench of Judges are Consuelo Scerri Herrera, Anthony Vella and Grazio Mercieca. The new magistrates are Dr Rachel Montebello, Dr Simone Grech and Dr Astrid May Grima.
Family members of the new judges and magistrates were also in attendance.
