Three new magistrates have been appointed and another three serving magistrates have been elevated to the Superior Courts. In a brief ceremony held at the President’s Palace in Valletta, Dr Nadine Lia, Dr Victor Asciak and Dr Bridgette Sultana took the oath of office and the oath of allegiance before the President of Malta Dr George Vella, who read and signed the documents appointing them to the Court of Magistrates. The President also read and signed the documents appointing Magistrates Francesco Depasquale, Aaron Bugeja and Joanne Vella Cuschieri to the Bench of Judges.
The Prime Minister, the Minister responsible for Justice, the Attorney General and family members of the new magistrates and judges were also present.
